The overall impression of "Moxie" is one of power, substance, and quality, coupled with a clownish personality, topped with the proverbial Golden Retriever "Happy Face"!
Moxie is a moderate sized dog that fits easily within the breed standard parameters. He is 23 1/4" tall and weighs 75 lbs. Moxie has full dentition with a correct scissors bite and no dropped incisors. He carries proper coat that is medium gold in color; he has a dense undercoat that sheds out for the summer, leaving his feathering and topcoat. His gait is powerful and balanced. Moxie is sound coming and going, albeit slightly wider moving at you in the front. Moxie's front and rear angle are very balanced with moderate angulation. His forechest is good, as is his width of chest. Moxie's tailset comes off level with his topline yet he has the appropriate slight slope to his croup. Moxie's head type is very soft and while his features are well defined, he is without the harsh chiseling that you see from some bloodlines. He has beautiful eyes, a velvety muzzle, slightly arched topskull and ears that are well set on and that hang at the proper length.
Moxie finished his Championship in five months of showing with three majors. In very limited showing as a Special he is a multiple group placing dog (owner handled). He was "Top Show Puppy" for both the NorCal GRC and the Pacific Rim GRC.
Moxie's accomplishments at Golden Retriever Specialties include Best In Sweepstakes @ the NorCal GRC Specialty, first in his puppy class @ the '95 National Specialty Sweepstakes and second in the regular classes and 4th in stud dog @ the '98 National Specialty.
Moxie's forte seems to be in producing outstanding progeny! At just six and a half years of age he had produced twelve conformation Champions with several more nearing their titles. Moxie also has six children with CD titles, two CDX, multiple agility titled, and many more in training for both obedience and agility. In addition, we are extremely proud of Moxie's five children bred by CCI that are working assistance dogs. |
